Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC)
What is the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC)?
The Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee is a group of parents/guardians who meet with teachers and administrators regularly to advocate for fair EL and Bilingual programming for their child. The majority of the members shall be parents/guardians.
When does the BPAC meet?

Planning for English Learner family nights
What programs does the English Learning program provide for families?
English Learner Parent Orientations- September 14th,2017 (Ridge Central Elementary School and Finley Junior High); September 19th, 2017 (Ridge Lawn Elementary School). This will occur from 8:30 AM- 10:00 AM
English classes for adults- A letter will be sent in January to invite parents to courses. Courses will be 11 weeks long.
Family Nights- Times and Dates are dependent on buildings
Dual Language Story times- A story will be read to families with young children during the school day in English and Arabic. There will also be a craft time for parent/guardian and child to complete together. Ridge Lawn will have an Arabic only program. At Ridge Central, Polish and Spanish will be available upon request,but the program will always run in Arabic and English.
Dates for all buildings: October 24th, 2017, December 12th, 2017, February 3rd, 2018, April 24th, 2018
Times: Ridge Lawn 8:30- 9:30 AM; Ridge Central 2:00-3:00 PM
Parents as Educational Partners program (for DRIVE program families only)- Please wait for letter from DRIVE program teacher.
Coffee with the Director- This will happen two times a year per building. A flyer for attendance will be sent home.
